But healing is still possible.Ĭonsider reaching out to a mental health professional to explore how you can develop effective coping mechanisms that may make releasing the past easier. Maybe the pain is so intense that you can’t help but focus on it, or perhaps you have to live with the consequences. It’s natural and valid to feel this is a difficult task. You can choose where you put your mind and heart today. Maybe you didn’t have a say in what hurt you in the past, but you have a say now. Taking accountability is also about claiming your power and deciding others will not control how you feel or live your life. This may keep you stuck in the past, which is something you can no longer change. When you hold on to your pain, resentment, or hurtful memories, you’re reliving the painful experience again and again. It’s also choosing to focus your attention elsewhere. It’s more about realizing how much energy you’re spending on remembering or feeling things that are no longer your present. Taking accountability doesn’t mean you have to blame yourself for things that happened to you in the past. What would happen if you adopted a different role in the situation?.How would your life be if you left the past in the past?.Do you avoid resolving emotional pain because this would mean facing it first?.Is thinking about the past keeping you from trying new relationships or situations?.Are there any secondary gains from keeping yourself focused on what hurts?.It may not be the case for everyone, but if you ask yourself “why can’t I let go?” these questions may help you start releasing your past: But healing, joy, and peace of mind may be on the other side of letting go. Getting away from the things you’ve felt and thought about for a long time may be uncomfortable. Perhaps staying angry at that person is comfortable because you can keep a distance. Maybe you’ve internalized it as part of your identity. Sometimes when you’ve hurt long enough, you may get used to the emotional pain. Consider questioning if the pain is comfortable So Michaela has a streak of violence in her after all! Which may come in handy if she, you know, walks in on Sam attacking Rebecca in Annalise’s office, or something like that.1. “Either sign or I will make sure you go back to that nasty bayou swamp you came from, you stubborn bitch.” And oh, Michaela does not like that compliment, and she reaches out to slap Mrs. Walker swears her vengeance should Michaela not sign the document. So they go for a nice dinner in which Michaela orders just water and swears her love to Aiden, but the corporate-minded Mrs. Walker, who wants to chat about the pre-nup with Michaela by waiting for her at the Keating office, because apparently there are no other locations at the school. As they enter the house, Bonnie announces that Michaela has a visitor: Aiden’s mother, Mrs. Or did she think Rebecca knowing about the pregnancy would cause her to do something and sabotage her own case? Lo and behold, Nate impels Rebecca to procure a DNA sample from Sam-and not the type of sample that our dear horny friend Lila has become so accustomed to.Īfter Michaela’s random pre-med degree helps solve the case, she shadows Annalise back to the office and begs for the much-deserved trophy, only Annalise is so distracted by all the fun drama in her life that she realizes she doesn’t give a flying Frank about the trophy anymore. Even though she knows that the news of Lila’s pregnancy will invariably get to Rebecca like a whack game of telephone, Annalise volunteers the information to Wes, reasoning, “I learned my lesson about keeping secrets from you.” (I love the undeniable pride in Annalise’s eyes during these tense moments with newly-badass Wes, which I think will make for a fun dynamic once they finally team up in future seasons like Franklin or Bash, or maybe just Franklin and his cool Oscar-nominated aunt.) Based on Wes’ immediate spillage of the news to Rebecca, though, it seems obvious Annalise was putting a plan in motion from the very beginning to have Wes relay the pregnancy to Rebecca-but why? She must know that Nate and Rebecca were in cahoots, and thus maybe she hoped Bex would tell Nate and the pregnancy would spur Nate to investigate Sam again, only this time out of Nate’s compulsion to solve the case rather than as a favor to Annalise.
